Summary: 13 year old Trent and his parents went to visit Dog Owners. Dog Owners owned a mixed breed dog. It had bitten the dog owners' son in the face before. The owners did not warn Trent or his parents about the dog's dangerous trait and history. When Trent reached to pet the dog, it bit Trent in the face near his mouth. The bite created an irregular, subcutaneous laceration that extended from the vermillion border. It took 14 stitches to close the wound. An infection caused cellulitis and abscess. Because of Trent's skin pigmentation (he is African‑American), he suffered keloid scarring. Trent's parents, who witnessed the attack, received a five‑figure settlement for their emotional distress claims.

Summary: Homeowner owned a dog with violent tendencies. In the past, it had bitten its owner and snapped at the owner’s gardener and housekeeper. Ten year old Taylor Doe and her mother were guests at Homeowner’s home. Homeowner never warned plaintiff or her mother about the dog’s vicious propensities. When plaintiff approached the dog and tried to hug it, the dog attacked plaintiff, causing serious cuts to her forehead and lip. She required emergency surgery on the night of the attack and will require two more surgeries in the future.
