Northern California Car Accident Injures Three

By Kelly Balamuth on March 31, 2010

A recent auto accident in Northern California occurred after a vehicle suddenly changed direction along Highway 1 in Sonoma County and then rolled 120 feet down a cliff along the coast. According to a San Francisco Chronicle article, California Highway Patrol officials reported that it took rescuers many hours to reach the accident site along the rocky beach and to help retrieve the collision victims from the wreck. Fortunately, all three men involved in the crash were wearing seat belts and did not suffer catastrophic injuries. Reportedly, the 59-year-old driver and a 29-year-old passenger endured moderate injuries and another passenger, age 31, suffered minor injury.

Although it is unfortunate that these men suffered any kind of physical harm, they are lucky to have survived such a large fall from the highway down the rocky cliff. Nevertheless, being involved in an auto accident is often a traumatic experience for those involved and such incidents can present emotional challenges that no one can ever anticipate. In addition, even the most minor of injuries may require extensive medical attention and care in addition to time off of work to ensure a full recovery.

While this particular car accident is still being investigated, alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been a determining factor in causing the 1989 Toyota Corolla to leave the highway. When another person’s negligence causes a car accident to take place, whether due to distracted driving, speeding, driving under the influence, or another form of negligence, injured individuals may seek compensation for expenses associated with the accident and resulting injuries. Similarly, if it is determined that a defective auto part caused an accident to occur, the manufacturer responsible for designing and creating the faulty car part may be held legally responsible as well.
