Samsung Galaxy Note7 Recall

By Kelly Balamuth on October 3, 2016

The manufacturer of the Galaxy Note7, Samsung, has announced a voluntary recall and exchange program for Galaxy Note7’s that can overheat and pose safety risks to users. The company is doing this in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC has formally made a recall for nearly 1 million of the devices. Affected devices were sold in the U.S. before September 15, 2016. While the company has acted to recall its products, knowing your rights as a consumer can help you decide any legal action to pursue if you’ve been injured by a Galaxy Note7. Having a knowledgeable attorney can assist you in gathering evidence for a trial.

Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls Pool and Spa Drain Covers

By Kelly Balamuth on June 8, 2011

On May 26, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of pool and in-ground spa drain covers from eight different manufacturers. The recall affects about 1 million pool and spa drain covers, which were sold between Dec. 2008 and April 2011 (except Pentair covers, which were sold between June 2009 and April 2011). The recalled covers were made by the following manufacturers:

  • A&A Manufacturing
  • AquaStar Pool Products
  • Color Match Pool Fittings
  • Custom Molded Products
  • Hayward Pool Products
  • Pentair Water Pool and Spa
  • Rising Dragon USA
  • Waterway Plastics

The drain covers are being recalled because they were not properly rated to withstand the flow of water through the cover. The risk is even greater for small children and those who may not be strong swimmers. Pool and spa owners or operators who have a drain cover that is part of the recall should call the manufacturer right away to get a replacement or a retrofit. For more information, contact the CPSC Drain Cover Recall Hotline at 866-478-3521 or visit the Drain Cover Recall website at www.apsp.org/draincoverrecall.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported in relation to this recall, but that is not always the case. Often defective and unsafe products cause harm to the consumer who is using the product. The manufacturer may be liable for injuries sustained due to a defective product.
